Local Twin Spring

this week in manitou…

Have you ever been walking the streets of Manitou Springs, and wonder how ‘The Springs’ got its name?

Long before the Mona Lisa, native tribes who inhabited the area considered mineral water the breath of the Great Spirit “Manitou.” In the early 1890s, the town’s mineral springs and clean mountain air established the area as a health resort. The rich history of these springs continues to live on in the heart of Manitou. There are 8 different locations that you can go and try this magical, mineral filled water

Start your walking tour at the7 Minute Spring, who is famously known for a carbonated eruption every 7 minutes, hinting at where it got its name. As you continue toShoshone Spring, you have the chance to try a natural spring with many of the highest levels of various minerals.
